Choose the 17cm Assist drop for wave-style riding or the 70cm eFoil drop for full-time motoring — same mast platform, two very different ways to ride.

Assist – 17cm (7″) drop: The hybrid setup. Motor sits close enough to the board that you can surface-motor to the lineup or upwind, then it disappears once you’re flying and using wake, swell, or wing power. Best for wake foiling, surf-style assist, small-day sessions, and riders who still want a natural foil feel.

eFoil – 70cm (27.5″) drop: The cruiser. Motor stays submerged for consistent thrust, flatwater laps, sunset sessions, and full-time powered riding on your existing One-Lock wings.

Slingshot extrudes the mast from 6061-grade aluminum with a consistent 118mm chord, then Foil Drive internally routes the cable and bonds on the mini pod. That combination is the whole point: stiffness where you need it, less junk in the water, and no screws holding the pod or mast-foot connection together.

On the water it feels solid and direct. Billy’s first impression was that the aluminum construction gives you all the stiffness you need — even on bigger, longer front wings — and the transitions on and off power are smooth. When the mini pod is coming in and out of the water, it doesn’t snag or chatter the way bulkier universal pods can. He compared the feel to other integrated masts he’s ridden, including carbon ones.

One-Lock is the multiplier. Slide in a new front wing, swap the tail, click the latch, and you’re riding a different foil in seconds — no screws, no lost hardware, no tools on the boat. That is why this mast works so well as a shared Foil Drive platform. One mast, many wings, many riders.

Billy Bosch: The mast feels really good in the water — solid, nice and stiff. Aluminum gives you the stiffness you need even with big, long foils. They avoided screws in the whole system. No screws holding the pod on or even the mast plate on. Slingshot nailed the “screws suck” idea on this one.
On the mini pod: Even with the mini pod, touching in and out of the water when you’re getting low and going on and off power is a real smooth transition. Similar to other integrated masts he’s felt, and comparable to carbon ones.

1. Does the Mini Pod really feel better than the older universal pods? Yes. Both Jacob and Brad note significantly less drag, cleaner touchdowns, and almost no disruption when pumping or dipping. The hydrodynamic shape and improved strap system make a noticeable difference day-to-day.

2. How much extra water time are we talking about in Florida conditions? Brad logged multi-day stretches of consistent sessions on knee-high or smaller swell that previously would have been skipped. Jacob uses it specifically for the ultra-small days that used to be skim-or-nothing.

3. Is it good for learning and progressing other foil disciplines? Absolutely. Jacob uses it to practice for prone and work on airs/360s with more control. Brad highlights the accelerated learning curve from simply getting more time on foil and more feedback from wipeouts.

4. Battery and prop recommendations from these riders? Jacob prefers the lighter Sports batteries and blue-blade props for a torque/speed balance. Brad runs the larger Max battery for longer sessions and keeps spare batteries so he has more power available than leg endurance on good days.

5. Any etiquette or safety notes? Brad is direct: be responsible, stay risk-averse to yourself and others, and don’t ride around people. The goal is more stoke, not more conflict in the lineup.

1. What’s the difference between the Assist and eFoil versions? The Assist mast uses a 17cm / 7″ motor drop. That’s the hybrid position: short bursts to get on foil, surface-motor to the lineup, then let the motor exit the water so you can ride wake, swell, or wing power. The eFoil mast uses a 70cm / 27.5″ drop, so the motor stays down for consistent powered cruising. Same 82cm aluminum One-Lock mast. Different job.

2. Who is this mast best for? Slingshot One-Lock riders who want Foil Drive without a clamp-on pod. It’s especially strong for wake foiling, family or shop sessions where people are swapping wings, and anyone who wants one dedicated powered mast instead of rebuilding a universal pod every session. Beginners and intermediates will like the Assist position. Flatwater cruisers and full-time eFoilers will want the 70cm drop.

3. Does it work with my existing One-Lock wings and tails? Yes. That’s the biggest real-world advantage. Front wings, tails, and One-Lock boards all swap tool-free. Glide, Ease, Flow, Kite, and the rest of the One-Lock quiver all lock into the same collar.

4. Is it compatible with Slim, MAX, and Fusion? Yes on current Gen2 / V2 systems: Assist Slim, Assist MAX, and Fusion. Assist-position masts are pre-set for MAX and Slim cable length. Fusion riders in the Assist position should plan on the Barnacle cable extender. It is not compatible with Gen1 Foil Drive.

5. Do I still need a separate motor? Yes. The mast includes the integrated housing, internal cable routing, hardware, and cover. You still need the integrated mast motor (standard V2 or High Power V2) plus your Foil Drive battery/system.

6. How does it compare to a universal Mini Pod on a regular mast? Cleaner. Internal wiring, no external clamp hardware, no screws on the pod, and a smoother entry and exit when the motor is skimming the surface. Billy’s note after the Clermont session was that the transition felt like other factory integrated masts — including carbon setups.

7. Is aluminum stiff enough compared with carbon integrated masts? For this use, yes. The 118mm chord and 6061 construction stay solid under bigger wings and wake loads. You give up a little carbon cachet and pick up durability, value, and a very direct, predictable feel. If you already ride One-Lock aluminum masts unpowered, this will feel familiar — just cleaner with the motor built in.

8. Can I move the motor after I buy it? No. Motor position is fixed. Pick 17cm Assist or 70cm eFoil based on how you actually ride. If most of your sessions are waves, wake, or “boost then glide,” get Assist. If you want the motor in the water the whole time, get eFoil.

9. What about drag, touchdowns, and small-day performance? Lower drag is the reason to buy an integrated mast. The mini pod and internal cable keep the mast looking and riding like a foil, not an eFoil conversion. That matters on small wake, light bump, and long assist runs where extra junk on the mast steals glide and battery.

10. Can I use it for airs, straps, and more than just cruising? Yes. Billy specifically called out boat sessions where you can throw straps, do airs, cruise in eFoil mode, or just ride wake. One-Lock makes those mid-session changes realistic instead of a 20-minute hardware project.
