Contra
For 2015, Cabrinha has introduced an all new 13m size for the Contra. Now coming in sizes 13m, 17m and 15m, this kite is the go to option for light wind and low end ease. With it’s skinny struts and leading edge, the kite flys fast and smooth while remaining light. It is all about exposing canopy for this model. The more canopy, the more power you are going to feel. The kite has a very nimble, gliding feeling when being flown. It actually drifts better than most light wind kites we see. This is impressive considering how much material you are working with. After flying the kite in several conditions in Cocoa Beach FL, we have found that the Contra does well both on the low end and when overpowered. It’s light weight also makes it an excellent choice for the rascally hydrofoilers. This is probably the easiest kite to jump…it practically does it for you. When overpowered, you can get huge floaty jumps without loosing control or being jerked around.
The main appeal to this model is that it is efficient. Efficiency is key when we are talking light wind. There are plenty of big kites out there but blending the perfect match of size and weight is hard to do. The Cabrinha Contra does that. It’s large, but you don’t see the nasty side effects of a large grunty kite.
Misfit
The 2016 Misfit is Slingshot’s goTo mid range board for a wide variety of freeride and freestyle specialists. The flat rocker line helps you haul butt upwind. Specially cut channels on the bottom of the Misfit help pull water from the center of the board toward the tips to generate more grip and consistency when loading for tricks. The wood construction is absolutely bomb proof but this is not new for SS boards. They are always long lasting companions. All SS boards are functional as they are nice to look at. New graphics for 2016 Sport the overlay wood grain look complimented with burst of color and honeycomb detail on the sides. A beautiful art piece for the riders who focus on ease and style in straps.
